TV personality and compere born on 23rd July, 1938, and affectionately known as Moonface.

Bert began his career in 1956, the same year television was launched in Australia, with his first job being with Channel 7 in Melbourne. He had previously been on Radio 3XY since the age of 16.

Bert joined HSV Channel 7 in 1957 and in 1959 moved to GTV Channel 9 teaming up with Gra Gra, The King, Graham Kennedy in the Tonight Show. He later compered the New Faces programme.

Winner of 3 Gold Logies, he often hosts the Logie Award presentations.

In December, 1993 Bert publicly confessed to having a gambling problem, with debts of $1million and owing a Victorian bookie $70,000.

To his credit, this revelation did his career good and his smiling face is still on every week-day morning with among others on his show, Big Kev's cleaning fluids.

Now hosts Good Morning Australia.
