Kosta lost his IBF junior welterweight world title in 1997.

In November 1998, Kosta won the WBC super-lightweight title when he beat Cuban exile Diobelys Hurtado in a 4 rounds TKO in California, just 18 months after losing his IBF junior-welterweight title to American Vince Phillips.
