 n December 31st, 1836, Colonel William Light, as surveyor-general of South Australia, selected the new city centre of Adelaide. Settlement began the next year in 1837.The city is bordered by the Mount Lofty Ranges.  Salvation Army officers Captain and Mrs. Thomas Sutherland arrived in Adelaide on 17th February, 1881, to form an Australian corps.  |
