Never mind the Wild West, it's the Deep South you have to watch. On July 14th, 1906, bookmaker Donald McLeod was lynched by an angry crowd of punters at Flemington Racecourse, home of the famous Melbourne Cup, when he was unable to pay out on winning bets.
