 ne of the founding fathers of Melbourne, with John Batman, he was born in London on 20th October, 1792, his family moving to Hobart , Tasmania (Van Diemen's Land in those days) in 1804, with his father being transported.In 1855 he assisted settlers move to the Melbourne area where he himself set up a newspaper. He died in 1869.  |
